NaNoWriMo or Not?

I am contemplating doing NaNoWriMo. That's National Novel Writing Month for those who don't know. And the goal is to write a 50,000 word novel during November. November is usually quite a busy month for me, but as I'm pretty much just editing stuff right now I could use something new to write. My brain is looking for a fresh start. I've attempted NaNoWriMo before but have never made it through due to life distractions and such, but this time I might actually be making a plan.
I have never laid out plans for a story before. I think about it some in my head for a while and then I start writing, but this time I'm actually writing stuff down. I have my characters, characters best friends, families, and the beginning of the story planned out, but have yet to figure out the rest. I still have a bit of time, but I'm not sure if it's enough time, but hopefully after some good brainstorming sessions I'll figure more stuff out. Let's see if I'm crazy enough to try.
